Took everybody deposit because he is a lawyer. Take him to court. Take pictures when he is inspecting the property. Have him sign a release for your deposit and have sign a invoice for damages and call the inspectors office to come reinspect or to be there the day you move out. That way you will have proof to take him to court. Take a video that wiil be better.  Need to rent an apartment?
