Apartment Review for Bluebonnett Place Apartments - Baton Rouge, LA

I lived at Bluebonnet Place for a year. It seemed to be in good condition for an older complex, and it was just close enough but not too far from LSU. However, in February 05, my roommate got mugged by gunpoint and carjacked. This happened around midnight right outside our apartment (we were on the end of a building). Thankfully, she was not hurt, her car was later found, and the guys found and prosecuted. BUT, the office staff did not want us to tell anyone, and when we left once our lease was up, they had still not installed security motion detector lights on all the back corners of the buildings--as we suggested and they promised! We had to stay until July, to not break our lease, but we felt very unsafe. The crime has also gone up in the Gardere area since Katrina, and Bluebonnet Place is right near there. DO NOT live here. You can find better places which are more safe, even if you have to be a little farther from campus or pay a tiny bit more.

Also, the previous reviewer is not my roommate. My roommate was a senior at LSU when the mugging happened. This just goes to show that unfortunately this is a common occurence at the apartment complex, but the management doesn't want anyone to know.

The manager is also very rude, and after complaining (and calling the "courtesy officer") about 25 times about our upstairs neighbor's loud noise at all hours of the night, they were NEVER evicted. Additionally, the courtesy officer never came to our door to find out what happened. We never even saw or met him/her.
