Apartment Review for The Venue At Northgate - Baton Rouge, LA

I have lived here for 2 years and was only partially satisfied. The interior is nice, as well as the pool and service but with one exception: THE INTERNET IS CHEAP OFF-BRAND. The "Hi-Speed" Internet Service Provider is Pavlov Media - look it up and you'll find terrible reviews of it. The Internet here constantly shorts out, especially during storms, and sometimes will stay out for hours or DAYS. It is terribly slow, with a capped download speed at 1.25 MB - and it never even runs that fast. A decent standard download speed would be in the ballpark of 4 Mb/s or higher. Cox is much faster and more reliable. I just ran at test at Speedtest.net to check my download/upload speed here and it capped at .88 Mb/sec. Mediocre, unreliable, slow. Do not live here if you require the use of high speed and reliable internet. Myself and others have tried talking with the management about the issue but they will not break their contract with Pavlov Media, and what's worse is that we can't even pay for our own internet through a reliable and MUCH more efficient ISP like Cox. Aside from poor security (constantly broken gates, and car break-ins in the garage) and mediocre internet, the venue isn't a terrible place to live. Living close to campus is nice, but honestly the poor internet would have been a deal-breaker for me if I had known about it sooner. R
